Sukhoi PAK FA - пак фа via SketchUp7
The PAK FA (пак фа) is a Russian made 5th generation jet fighter featuring twin engines, a broad airframe and a low profile to enhance radar evasion. It competes with the US built F-22 Raptor and the J-20 Chinese fighter still under development.
This model was created in SU7 using the Curviloft and Soap Skin/Bubble plug-ins. Both plug-ins use different methods to "fill-in" space between basic lines, shapes, and profiles, making them indispensable when creating more complex geometry.
Mil Helicopter's Mi-1
The Mi-1 was the first of many iconic helicopters produced by Russia's Mil Helicopter Plant. Movie enthusiasts may be familiar with the Mil Mi-24 gunship in Rambo 3, seen menacing the protagonist throughout the mountains of Afghanistan.
Revisiting the Mi-1 seemed the best way to explore many aspects of Mil's signature architecture carried forward into their later designs. Concerning the model itself, the difficulty of shaping the body in SU7 was made easier once again with Fredo6's CurviLoft plug-in.

Stage two consists of an on-site workshop. Above is a preliminary concept of one direction the workshop can go in.
This residential project has been moving along over the course of the last year since the last post found here. Several additional layouts have been produced for window and lighting placement and now concepts are being proposed for an on-site workshop area and a smaller separate room for guests.
Cafe Design
Overview
A recent cafe franchise design in Singapore modeled in SU7 and rendered in Vray. No post production editing was done.
Though it may be difficult to tell because of the lighting, the world maps are 2d cutouts. This is accomplished by turning a world map outline in Adobe Illustrator into a .dwg file, importing it into SU7 and intersecting the lines with column before punching them out with the push/pull tool.

Starship Study
Starship model from: NoMadMore of an exercise in lighting, post production and materials, this project was to test and develop rendering subjects in science fiction. The model was taken from SU's 3D Warehouse. The inspiration for this particular scene can be found here.
The ship was named after Chinese explorer and mariner Zheng He.

USS Expedient design was made while trying out a new plugin for SU7 called Curviloft. It was used on parts of the saucer section as well as the nacelle supports. Projected texture mapping was used to mark the hull with name and registration number. Post production went much faster after completing the previous Zheng He project.
Research & Design Lab Concept

A conceptual private, micro-R&D lab featuring modular, mobile computer towers with 2 CPU's a piece, hooked into a 24 9" LCD monitor array and a 4 projector overhead hub, turning the entire room into a virtual 'desktop.' Each LCD monitor features touch sensitive interfaces, and can be reconfigured to work with a single or multiple CPU's.
Each monitor also features mechanical arms to reconfigure them from a single table surface to more traditional vertical configurations as needed. Servos automatically configure the monitors into different arrangements via a micro-control built-in to the table assembly.
Channels in the floor covered in removable access panels conceal power and data lines. Whiteboards doubling as projector backgrounds cover the room's 4 walls. Ample floor room is made available for the addition and rearrangement of temporary experimental workstations along the walls.

text and a blueprint background were added in.
This graphic illustrates one way of creating a lap joint on a piece of wood using a jigsaw.
Typically a router or a table saw using a dado blade would make easy work of a lap joint, but considering jigsaws are more common and sometimes all that's on hand, it is useful to know it can be done.
Step #4 requires that you meet the bottom of the cut soon enough to leave enough room horizontally to place the blade at 90 degrees for step #5. The rough cut should be done inside your required dimensions and finished with a file or sandpaper.
Safety: Care must be taken while using a jigsaw in this manner. Secure the work piece with clamps and keep your hands behind the blade, esp. in step #5 which requires cutting into an angled surface.

Based on Werner Von Braun's space station, it is 250ft/76m in diameter and provides 1/3 the gravity on earth by rotating at around 3 rounds per minute. It features two decks, a truss system, solar arrays, and a forward, center docking port. There will be more to come.
Spacesuits, an orbital tug and an in-orbit aerospace fabrication shop need to be either integrated into this design or featured in another station modeled based on what I learned doing this one. An old Lockheed design featured here, expanded and enlarged, seems like a good logical next step.

Supersonic Airline with Ejection Pods

Interior shot with all but one pod open.Just for fun: A concept design of a supersonic airliner modeled after the Concorde,
the Russian Tu-144, with ejection pods based off the B-58 Hustler.
The break-lines in the fuselage are hidden by back-lit compartments. There
are 12 seats in total. Pods are designed for zero-zero ejection.
