Volvo Center - Singapore

Concepts for a Volvo Center next to one of Singapore's Comfort Delgro "Spark" centers. The model was built in SketchUp, rendered with Vray, and finished in GIMP. Because of the short deadline, many materials were "overridden" in Vray and screenshots then merged with the renders in GIMP to put in the materials afterwards. Lighting, reflective material, and the floor were rendered in Vray. This greatly speeds up the rendering process. Additionally, automated rendering was used - where an animation is set up using these settings explained here - allowing rendering through the night, further increasing speed and efficiency.

A nail spa concept in Singapore. Built up in SketchUp using original geometry and models downloaded from SketchUp's 3D Warehouse, it was rendered in Vray, finished in GIMP, and put on A3 presentation boards in SketchUp's LayOut.

Cafe Design IV: Alternate Designs

Cafe_Layout_5_5

Cafe_Layout_4_4

Here are some alternate deigns for the Thanya Park cafe that were initially proposed. There were actually many more, lots of rendering done, but it was an opportunity to try the new settings on SketchUp 8 + Vray.

Auto Repair Waiting Lounge - Singapore

Sparks6GIMP

This is an initial concept for the reception area of a well-known car detailing & repair business in Singapore. It is located next to an existing location and serves as a high-end expansion.

CD_Layout_Lounge_1

As vehicles are inspected, repaired, cleaned & detailed, members can wait in an upstairs lounge that overlooks the maintenance bay.

DeskColorOptions_3

Here is a workstation design created for the same project. It is meant to be used in a working area and features security options to lock it up overnight or when not in use.

Cafe Design III

Finished2_1

Here are some photographs on site of a cafe being designed & built in Vietnam. Compared with the 3D conceptualizations below, one can see a quite literal translation was made with few compromises to implement the design. Generally, concept and actualization diverge either because of budget, problems sourcing material for certain design elements, or last minute decisions made to change certain features.

The 3D was created in SketchUp, rendered with Vray, and finished in GIMP. For this particular project many iterations were done and time constraints were a burden - this resulted in some of the latest renders being of low quality simply to help contractors as they physically built the cafe's interior. The design itself is based on a combination of earlier designs implemented for other locations, as well as site-specific requirements indicated by the client.

Hair Salon Proposal

OrangeSalonLayoutHeliosColors_1
The only requirements were to include a wood laminate floor, a shelf, and a "colorful" appearance. Attempting to balance the cleanliness usually associated with a modern salon with the "colorful" appearance required, a minimalist approach was used with the incorporation of a colorful feature wall with corresponding seating fabric. Four color schemes were proposed.

OrangeSalonLayoutHelios
Orange was eventually agreed upon, a rendering of the back room where hair washing is conducted as well as a consultation office were added along with a complete cutaway overview of the salon.

The front entrance of the salon.

The salon chairs, hair washing station, TV, & bulb lighting fixtures were brought in from the indispensable SketchUp 3D Warehouse, while the rest was created in-house. Rendering was done with Vray, editing in GIMP, and the presentation created with SketchUp's Layout.

Cafe Design II

ksB2GIMP
A cafe design for a franchise. This project is in Vietnam.

ksB1GIMP
The theme was "California." Road signs from famous locations in California were used in the design.

ksA13GIMP
Floor seating upon a raised platform was required.

ksA11GIMP
A mixture of different seating styles, tables, and chairs were used to give the design more variety.

This is another cafe design based upon an earlier project which serves as the template for this particular franchise. The above design is for a shop space located in Vietnam. The theme was "California" so images and road signs were incorporated into the orange & white scheme to reflect this.

SketchUp 7, Vray, and GIMP were used to create these images.

Overview

A recent cafe franchise design in Singapore modeled in SU7 and rendered in Vray. No post production editing was done.

Though it may be difficult to tell because of the lighting, the world maps are 2d cutouts. This is accomplished by turning a world map outline in Adobe Illustrator into a .dwg file, importing it into SU7 and intersecting the lines with column before punching them out with the push/pull tool.

Break Area: Chairs - SU 3D Warehouse, Table - BrenkoDesign

Minimalist Meeting Room 8 pax. Table and chairs: SU 3D Warehouse.

An assortment of office projects; time constraints require that more 3D warehouse objects be incorporated into each scene.

Competing concepts for the exterior.

Alternate concepts with a clear view of the garden.

Interior: Vertical wall planters outside the large 1st floor windows will fill the existing half-meter void that exists now.

Day Care Centre, Singapore

Reception Area

Built in a subterranean bomb shelter (common in Singapore), this day care centre proposal was fairly complex. Drawing from a multitude of concepts, there was a constant need to convince people using the space that they weren't in a basement.

Two views of the main corridor. First from reception, the other looking back from the opposite end of the corridor.

The giant ventilation pipe running through the main corridor presented a great challenge - covering it wasn't an option as it would make the already confined space unmanageable. Instead, it was "converted" into a rocket. The space theme also takes the form of a sky to space mural on the wall which climbs onto the ceiling and runs the length of the corridor.

Space and its traversing, in my opinion, is a great concept for children. After all, what better way to inspire and encourage children to reach up than the pinnacle of human achievement through ingenuity amongst the stars?

Salt - Leatherware Parco@Millenia Walk, Singapore

Salt is one of two projects Brenko Design worked on at Singapore's Parco@Millenia shopping mall which opened on March 31, 2010. From our concept work to completion, Salt came out almost exactly like it was envisioned during the final proposal.

Even the wallpaper was custom made, taken straight from the 3ds Max model, turned into a vector graphic and printed out as a huge wall sticker. Likewise, images adorning the shelf displays in the 3D model were also enlarged and printed out as stickers.

F.U.N Parco @ Millenia Walk, Singapore

Final proposals presented with photos from opening day, March 31 2010

This was one of two commercial retail projects done by Brenko Design at Singapore's shopping center, Parco @ Millenia Walk which opened on March 31, 2010. F.U.N followed the basic color scheme provided in the 3D proposals but the contractors took a lot of liberty to both speed up construction and reduce costs resulting a divergence from the original concept.

The project was particularly interesting because it involved many site visits to both shops Brenko Design was working on. Watching the other shops quickly take shape as the opening date approached gave a lot of insight into many different design and construction processes.

Taking shape: 3D, initial construction site, and a week before opening day.

Isis Office, Singapore

The Isis Office project was done on behalf of a Singapore based contractor company. The design had already been decided upon by the contractor, who simply lacked a 3D artist to render the images.

The 3D work was done for both the construction process and the client.
